Private equity in China isn't taught in textbooks. It's built deal by deal, in markets where the rules are often being written in real time. This fireside chat is a chance to hear how one of the region's most experienced investors approached it: sourcing and underwriting deals in fast-changing sectors, navigating regulation and information gaps, and operating under the kind of uncertainty most case studies leave out. Frank will also speak candidly about his own career arc, from McKinsey to Morgan Stanley to over twenty years at Warburg, and what students can do now to build the judgment that compounds into a career like his.
About Frank Wei
Frank is the former Managing Director and Head of China at Warburg Pincus, where he built and led the firm's China private equity franchise across more than two decades. Under his leadership, Warburg became one of the most active foreign investors in the country, deploying capital across sectors during China's most dynamic growth era. He began his career as a Business Analyst at McKinsey & Company and later worked in investment banking at Morgan Stanley in Hong Kong. He holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
